In Henri-Duffaut-Strasse, HENSOLDT Optronics is erecting a production and administration building with a total floor space of 6,500 sq m. The industrial complex will provide a modern work environment for 120 employees. Its occupation is planned for mid-2024. Only a stone’s throw away, VIAOPTIC invests 8.5 million Euro into an extension building on Leitz Park with a building area of around 3,450 sq m. Growth engines for the specialist for polymer optics are the markets for sensor technology, automotive and medical engineering. The extension will facilitate a capacity increase of almost 60 percent.

Directly adjacent lies the extension building of Uwe Weller Feinwerktechnik which will be put into operation already in December. Centerpiece are robot-controlled machinery plants which will be conducive to increasing the production quality and also the capacity by 30 percent. “This is absolutely necessary for we want to grow together with our customers,” explains managing director Siegbert Zörb. One of these growing customers is the ZEISS division SMT. They are building a new multi-functional factory in the industrial zone Dillfeld where ultramodern DUV illumination systems will be produced on a factory floor space of more than 12,000 sq m. There is a clear commitment to the location by site director Katrin Ariki: “We feel quite at home in Wetzlar and want to keep on growing here.”
